“Give me a stage and I’ll perform” is the motto of L-Bow the clown. Beginning at age 17, the now, 43 year-old Luke Boyce (graduate of Cascade High School) started ‘clowning’ believing it was a great way to “keep his talents useful.” Growing up near Leavenworth (Peshastin), Boyce first became intrigued with performing when the local librarian taught him how to juggle when he was just ten. Not long after that, Boyce joined the local middle school’s(I.R.M.S.) unicycle team. By 12 he was a member of the renowned Wenatchee Youth Circus and he was on his way. During the six years with the circus, Boyce traveled all over the Pacific North West, from Sun Valley Idaho, Shaniko Oregon and to the San Juan Islands here in Washington performing in acts of juggling, unicycling, trampoline, tumbling, human pyramids, fire juggling, low wire and roman ladders. One of his most spectacular part of the performance was when he rode a unicycle across a wire, 30ft above the circus floor, with his younger sister, Autumn, on his shoulders. Luke also played the Lion in The Wizard of Oz, the Wolf in Into the Woods, and various other roles in many school plays and musicals. This type of ability and knack for wowing the crowd has led Boyce to becoming one of the top clowns in the Northwest. During the local festivals, while watching L-Bow’s show, great for all ages, the audience members are shown a great variety of entertainment. He can be seen performing for many grateful crowds at most of the local festivals (Taste of the Harvest, Maifest, Kinderfest, Autumn Leaf, and Oktoberfest), birthdays, carnivals, fairs, school assemblies, company picnics and even performing as a Jester at medieval-style wedding receptions.. With enjoyable music playing as a backdrop, Boyce performs acts of juggling (including fire), unicycling and animal ballooning incorporated with good-old-fashioned clowning with participation from a few voluntary audience members. For L-Bow the Clown, his only goal is to make people happy…Let’s say – Mission Accomplished.
